(Reveaingl While Revealing), 2018

<밝히면서 밝히기>는 고무장갑을 가사노동의 상징으로, 고무장갑의 색을 여성의 가사노동 그 자체로 보고, 고착화된 성 역할과 성별 이분법에 관한 비판적 태도에서 출발한다. 붉은 고무장갑처럼 ‘가정주부’로 끊임없이 타자화되는 여성의 삶을, 탈색/재가공한 회화를 통해 수동적 젠더 규범을 무너뜨리고자 했다. 고무장갑을 사회적으로 강요된 의미들이 사라진 적극적 주체로 ‘밝히면서 밝히’며 작품이 주체적인 의미로 작용하기를 소망한다.

<Revealing While Revealing> is based on a critical attitude towards fixed gender roles and gender binaries, seeing rubber gloves as a symbol of house work and the color of rubber gloves as women’s house work itself. Like the red rubber gloves, women’s lives are constantly otherized as ‘housewives,’ and through the decolorized/reprocessed paintings, I aimed to break down passive gender norms. I hope that my work will act as a subjective meaning by ‘revealing’ the rubber glove as an active subject whose socially imposed meanings have disappeared.
