이것은 다양한 이름으로 살아가야 하는 나의 고군분투와 자존에 대한 이야기이다. 가혹한 이중잣대 속에서 끊임없이 타자화되고 대상화되는 여성의 위치를 생각했다. 자신의 의지와 관계없이 ‘주어진’ 이름으로 살아가야 하는 다양한 여성들을 직접 연기하고, 스테레오타입화된 여성상을 벗어나려 하는 시도를 시각화한 작품이다. 결국에는 실패로 끝나고 마는 반복적인 시도 끝에 남은 물건들을, 정성스레 정물화로 그려냈다. 어느 샌가 내면화 되어버린 관습으로부터, 프레임으로부터 탈피하고 싶은 염원을 담아, 나는 이것을 ‘죽었다’라고 명명하며 애도하고 싶다.

This is a story about my struggle and self-respect in living under various names. I thought about the position of women who are constantly otherized and objectified in a cruel double standard. I played various women who are forced to live under ‘given’ names regardless of their will, and visualized their attempts to escape the stereotypical image of women. The objects left over from my repeated attempts, which eventually ended in failure, were carefully painted as still life. With a desire to escape from the frame, from the conventions that have been internalized by a before we knew it, I named it ‘dead’ and mourned it.
