조화로운 그림

물건을 담는 역할을 하는 것들 중에서도 가장 흔하고, 값싼 취급을 받는 비닐봉투는 가벼운 바람에도 쉽게 날아가고 쉽게 버려진다. 또, 꽃의 가장 싱싱하고 아름다운 젊음을 그대로 간직하기 위해 부자연스러운 방식으로 납작하게 눌린 기이한 물건이 있다. 바로 압화다. 흔해빠진 비닐봉투와 압화 속 납작한 꽃들을 보며 “납작하게 대상화”되어 어디에도 쉽게 뿌리내리지 못하는 수많은 사람들을 떠올린다. 사회에서 여기저기로 떠밀리는 아주 보통의 사람들, 혹은 보통의 이름으로 경계를 서성거리는 사람들. 비닐봉투의 쓸모란 아주 얕고, 압화의 존재는 그야말로 납작하게 느껴진다.
조화로운 그림은 물리적으로 납작해진 ‘봉투꽃’ 그림이다. 비닐봉투로 감싼 꽃(조화)은 일반적인 ‘꽃다발’ 을 상기시키면서도 매끈한 재질과 대상에 가해진 물리적인 압력으로 인해 부조화를 일으키며 미끄러진 다. 나는 조화롭지 않은 조화’를 통해, 봉투꽃과 꽃다발의 차이를 묻고 싶다.
Plastic bags, the most common and cheaply treated of all the things that serve to hold things, blow away in the gentle breeze and are easily discarded. Then there are the strange things that are pressed flat in an unnatural way to preserve the freshness and youthful beauty of flowers. These are pressed flowers. Looking at the ubiquitous plastic bags and the flattened flowers in pressed flowers, I think of the countless people who are “objectified flat” and cannot easily take root anywhere. Ordinary people who are pushed here and there in society, or people who are milling around the boundary with ordinary names. The usefulness of a plastic bag is very shallow, and the existence of a pressed flower feels literally very flat.
The <harmonious painting> is a picture of a ‘bag flower’ that has been physically flattened. The flowers (artificial flowers) wrapped in a plastic bag are reminiscent of a typical ‘bouquet’, but the slick material and the physical pressure exerted on the object causes them to slip and slide, creating incongruity. I want to ask the difference between an envelope flower and a bouquet of flowers through ‘Inharmonious artificial flowers’.
